Product Updates for GDPR
Hey it’s Chris here and I wanted to let you know about two updates we made. One for Handsome Checkout and the other for One Click Upsells. These updates are specifically for The GDPR which goes into effect on May 25, 2018.
The first update we made is for Handsome Checkout. WooCommerce 3.4 was just released with tweaks and settings to better help with GDPR compliance. Handsome Checkout is fully compatible with WooCommerce 3.4. The additional fields or policy notices you may decide to add to your checkout page are available in Handsome Checkout 1.3.1. More on WooCommerce 3.4 here.
The second update we’ve made is to One Click Upsells. One Click Upsells collects two pieces of data; a customer’s email address and an encrypted token from the payment gateway. Earlier this month, WordPress 4.9.6 was released specifically for privacy and maintenance. One of the new core features is around Data Handling.
Sites on 4.9.6 can now do a Data Export which exports a ZIP file containing a user’s personal data, using data gathered by WordPress and participating plugins. A Data Erasure option is also available so site owners can erase a user’s personal data, including data collected by participating plugins.
One Click Upsells 1.5.1 is a participating plugin and the two pieces of data mentioned above will be included in the new Data Export and Data Erasure options in WordPress 4.9.6. More info on WordPress 4.9.6 here.
These updates are available today and will appear in your plugins panel soon if it hasn’t already.
